    Average Call DurationACD

The mean length of answered calls, used alongside ASR to distinguish genuine conversations from automated or fraudulent traffic.

Very short ACD — a handful of seconds — points to robocalls, wardialing, or Wangiri-style one-ring campaigns. Very long ACD to a narrow set of destinations can indicate traffic pumping or revenue-share abuse.

ACD is only meaningful compared against a baseline for the same customer, destination, and time of day.

    Why it matters to carriers

ACD and ASR together separate a legitimate high-volume contact centre from an illegal dialer far more reliably than call volume alone.
