    DIDDirect Inward Dialing

A telephone number assigned to a customer that routes inbound calls directly to a specific endpoint, and is typically used as their outbound caller ID.

DIDs are provisioned in blocks and reassigned over time. A number recycled from a previous owner may already carry a poor reputation or complaint history before your customer ever uses it.

Which DIDs a customer is authorized to present is the core input to any honest attestation decision.

    Why it matters to carriers

Maintaining an authoritative map of which customer may present which DID is what makes automated A attestation both possible and defensible.

Handling did on your own switch

SipShield scores live SIP traffic with patented AI so the controls behind this term run automatically — and leave the audit trail regulators expect.
